Live Cake Challenge ~With the continued popularity of cake decorating sweeping the country, many well known and talented sugar artists, as well as newcomers to the field, will once again participate in our Live Cake Challenge.
This Challenge will spotlight sugar artists and bakery owners who will decorate a cake, according to challenge rules, that will fit our show theme “The Great Outdoors”, and all in front of a live audience. They will have three and one-half hours to complete their work, ending with the presentation of medals and cash prizes.
This event is held on Sunday starting at 12:30 p.m. Please join us for this very exciting event. Seating is limited, so be sure to purchase your tickets early. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Classes and Demonstrations ~Every day there are new and challenging techniques that enter the field of cake decorating. This event will sponsor classes with instructors bringing us the latest new challenges in this unique field from across the United States and Canada. Be sure to pre-register for any classes you may be interested in, as seating will be limited. Should you have any questions, feel free to email our Event Directors (see contact page).
Demonstrations will also be presented during the day for the all attendees and general public to view. Well known instructors and decorators will show techniques in cake decorating that every one will want to try.

Awards ~All entries in both the Sugar Art and Wedding Cake competitions will be judged on Saturday during the day. Ribbons will be placed at each winning entry after closing on Saturday afternoon. Division trophies and special awards will be announced on Sunday (check schedule for times). Trophies are then placed by the winning entries for public viewing until the close of the show (Sunday, February 19th, at 5:00pm).
Placement medals and monetary prizes for the Sunday Cake Challenge are presented at the end of that competition.

Competitions ~Feel the excitement as you place your sugar arts entry on a table next to dozens of other creations. As you gaze around the room, your inspiration is triggered into high gear with the many colors, shapes and ideas. Techniques you never even thought of attempting will become a new interest. Spend the entire day chatting with fellow decorators and artists, as well as Master Decorators, Vendors and Authors. You can’t beat “Cake Heaven.”We continue in 2012 with our “Wedding Cake Competition.” This specific category will be an opportunity for novice and professional decorators to share their interpretation of this age old tradition, while displaying a Wedding Cake that expresses their creativity and talents. The best design of this specific judged category will be awarded a monetary and gifts Grand Prize totaling more than $1,000. (Designs need not be applicable to Show Theme.) |
Midnight Madness ~
One thing about bakery owners and cake decorators ~ most are up at all hours of the night practicing their skills and techniques in decorating or working on production. A good number of decorators never go to sleep before 2:00 am. So what better time to have a decorating class than around midnight!
From 11:00 pm until 1:00 am in the morning, classes will be available for those decorators who are wide awake and don’t want to miss the fun of decorating. Register early for these classes as, believe it or not, they do fill up rather quickly. Join us at the Hartford Marriott for our “Midnight Madness.”
