About Our Show ~ |
|
Cake competitions are still one of the best ways to improve your decorating skills and increase your knowledge of techniques. Working on a sugar art entry challenges your creativity, and gives you more confidence as you complete your work. Classes and demonstrations will keep you up-to-date with the latest trends and new techniques and products. Participating in the events of the day will give you that extra edge, and as you view the entries of other decorators, you will feel those “creative juices” start to sizzle; you can’t wait to get home and try something new. Classrooms, vendors and sugar art displays and the Live Challenge will be in close proximity to each other, allowing each participant and attendee to easily access each venue. Vendor booths will also be a big part of the two-day event. Our vendors will be showcasing the very latest in cake decorating products, tools and supplies. You will also have the opportunity to meet and talk with authors of books about cake decorating and confectionery arts, and we will have some very special door prizes for our participants. We are also extending this venue to cover Wedding Cakes and related areas. Licensed wedding cake bakers and vendors will once again be invited to participate, giving the general public an opportunity to view the many talents and products available. The entire weekend will culminate with a special guest Brunch and Presentation and our live “Cake Challenge”. Buddy Valastro of “The Cake Boss” fame will present at a “Brunch with Buddy” on Sunday morning. He will then join other judges for the live Cake Challenge where competitors will create an entry to fit our show and event theme, “Child’s Play” ~ all within a 3-1/2 hour time frame and in front of a live audience. You must pre-register for all classes, and we encourage early purchase of tickets for our “Brunch with Buddy” and the Live Challenge, as seating is limited (granted on a first come, first paid basis). So be sure to register or purchase your tickets early This competition is also a stepping stone to these future cake shows. Be sure to check if you can bring your entries from this event to: Connecticut Chef’s Association Cake and Sugar Arts Competition ~ April, 2010 National Capital Area Cake Show, Fairfax, VA ~ March 20-21, 2010 The Great American Cake Show & Wedding Cake Competition, Westminster, MD ~ May 1-2, 2010 Grand National Wedding Cake Competition and Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show, Tulsa, OK ~ October 2-3, 2010
So, set aside February 27th & 28th for two days of cake heaven. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have and we look forward to seeing you at our Connecticut Competition and Challenge.
